The squish w/o the hassle
So you're probably familiar with the soft tail. Flex in the stays lends the rider about an inch of cush. If the shock doesn't wear out right away. And if the frame doesn't crack.
Enter the long travel soft tail. It uses flex plate between the chainstays and the bottom bracket to focus all the force away from the more stress-prone areas of the rear triangle. Not only does this make the bike more durable, it makes the ride more plush and stiff as well!
But it doesn't stop there. I've also added two small flex zones in the seatstays to further increase the plushness. Then we get to the shock. Not only is it a real shock, the interface between the shock and rear triangle has been stiffened and strengthened by using a link tied to the toptube.
All this add up to a some great numbers: 4" of travel, 4.25 pound frame. (Did I mention it can be a 29er too?) |
